Incense Sticks White Sage from Namaste India
Indian incense sticks with Salvia Blanca (White Sage) aroma from the company Namaste India.
Salvia Blanca, also known as white sage (salvia apiana) is a traditional shamanic incense herb that grows exclusively in northern Mexico. You can recognize white sage because the leaves have many fine hairs that give the plant its white color. Unlike European sage, white sage contains more resin and essential oils and is therefore preferred for incense.
White sage is usually smoked for rituals. The dried leaves are rolled into ‘smudge sticks’ and then smoked. The Latin word ‘salvere’ means to heal. White sage is also said to have various health-promoting properties. As a tea, sage is generally used for sore throats and colds. When smoked, white sage is used to clear negative energies, promote concentration, and lighten the mood. In shamanic rituals, white sage is smoked to allow the spirit to access a higher consciousness. Learn more about the effects of white sage →.
